Viewfinder and Superliminal
Both are first-person and both make perception the puzzle. Superliminal’s store description is about forced perspective: a small object becomes large because of where you stand. Viewfinder’s store description is about placing a flat image into the room until the image is geometry you can walk on. Viewfinder also wraps that toy in a research-simulation story and in collectible sets. Superliminal is dream logic without that frame. I am not declaring a winner. If you bounced off Viewfinder because you wanted the scale trick, Superliminal is the closer neighbour than Portal. If you bounced off because you wanted panels, Gorogoa is the one that is actually about pictures, and it is not first-person 3D.
For the closest mechanical match, start with Superliminal: both games ask you to reconsider what a first-person view makes possible, but only Viewfinder turns a placed image into new scenery. Maquette is useful if the appealing part was the relationship between a model and its surrounding world. Manifold Garden emphasizes navigating repeating architecture and changing gravity, so its sense of space is closer than its controls. Choose Gorogoa if the pictures themselves matter more than walking through a 3D environment. Its illustrated panels connect in ways that reveal new routes and images. The Witness and Antichamber are alternatives for players who enjoy observing rules and then revising an assumption when a room behaves unexpectedly. Portal focuses that process on linked openings. These are editorial reasons to compare the games, not a score-based ranking or a claim that they share Viewfinder’s camera. If you are trying to remember the name of the photo game, start at the discovery page instead of this list.
