Viewfinder Stuttering and Performance

The specific fixes that exist in public notes are patch 1.1.4 and its hotfix. I will not promise a frame-rate number the patches do not claim.

Version 1.1.4, dated 12 November 2025 in Steam’s news, says it improved performance while taking and placing photos, the final level, transitions, shaders, audio, and memory use. It also added Traditional Chinese, a motion-sickness option that stops the held camera and the photo from bobbing, and a photo highlight. The hotfix on 26 November 2025 fixed graphics that broke at exactly 50 percent render scale, and a collision bug when a held object intersected the player or a surface. The 50 percent fix is documented as a graphical issue; the notes do not identify it as the cause of every hitch at that setting.

Settings the wiki snapshot lists, not a benchmark: field of view from 70 to 110, MSAA plus FXAA, SMAA, or SSAA, FSR 1 through the resolution-scale slider, vsync, and frame caps at 60 or 120 and above. The order I would try, because each step is named in those notes: update to 1.1.4 plus the hotfix, lower the resolution scale or turn SSAA off, try the FSR slider, cap the frame rate at 60, and enable motion-sickness reduction if the complaint is bob rather than a stall. On Steam Deck the Verified label and ProtonDB’s Platinum summary are the references, not a custom config I can cite. Switch is a different machine: reviews say 30 fps with dips when many photos are linked. That write-up is on the Switch page.

What I will not write: a 1 percent low, a “gain 20 fps” claim, or a PS5 frame-rate. No independent frame-time table was in the sources. Xbox’s store text says 60 fps or higher; that is a store sentence, not a lab result, and it does not transfer to the other consoles. Shader and photo-placement hitches are the symptoms the patch notes themselves name, which matches the search for a stuttery session more closely than a generic driver guide.
